Cook Time: 20 mins
Total Time: 35 mins

These simply comforting breakfast snacks combine chorizo, egg, cheese and De La Viuda® Original Hot Sauce for a savory treat that can, and should, be eaten with your hands.

Servings: 6

Ingredients

Instructions

Ingredients

  • 2 prepared pie crusts
  • 6 oz chorizo cooked and crumbled
  • 7 eggs
  • 1 tbsp heavy cream
  • Dash of De La Viuda® Original Hot Sauce, plus more for serving
  • Salt and fresh cracked pepper to taste
  • ½ tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp cilantro, chopped
  • 6 oz Monterey Jack or Pepper Jack cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. On a lightly floured surface, place dough flat and trace the outline of a 6-inch bowl with a sharp knife.
  2. Whisk together 6 eggs, heavy cream, and a dash of De La Viuda® Original Hot Sauce. Season well with salt and pepper. Melt butter in a non-stick pan and pour in egg mixture. Cook eggs until just beginning to scramble. Stir in cilantro and chorizo. Allow eggs to cool slightly. Divide evenly onto dough rounds. Top with shredded cheese.
  3. Add last egg to a small bowl and whisk with 1 tsp water to create an egg wash. Set aside.
  4. Fold the dough over, creating a half moon. Twist the outer edge of the dough over itself (alternatively, you can use the back of a fork to press down and seal).
  5. Brush the beaten egg wash over the hand pies and transfer to a lined baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
